Genjot Income Data, Smart intense Internet Expansion

Jakarta - smartfren Telecom said it will more aggressively again to expand its data services outside Jakarta in order to boost revenues significantly.

"We can not just sell in Jakarta alone despite the potential revenue from large customers in the region. The principle as to do that is to bring cellular service everywhere," said Deputy CEO smartfren Djoko Tata Ibrahim at Hotel JW Marriott, Jakarta, Wednesday (7 / 12 / 2011).

According to him, currently 50% of revenue smartfren supplied by data services. In order to get maximum economies of scale, it takes an aggressive expansion to cities outside of Jakarta.

"We realize speed is not the only one the customer wanted. They need stability as well as connected with the virtual world. We can offer it at affordable prices and reliable quality supported," he said.

Through the campaign "I hate slow" in every ad, Smart claimed to have successfully increased the number of customers while lowering turnover (churn rate), to increase the number of pulses the average usage per month.

Until the end of October 2011, the number of customers smartfren has reached 1 million subscribers data. This reflects an increase of 300,000 subscribers at the end of 2010.

End of the year is expected to be 1.5 million data subscribers in the next year and will double to 3 million customers data.

Currently the total number of subscribers smartfren about 7 million and is targeted to 8 million subscribers at the end of 2011.

On the level of churn rate, smartfren claimed only about less than 3%, or still equivalent to other operators in Indonesia.

Average revenue per customer (average revenue per user / ARPU) Smarfren also increased. In 2010, the voice service ARPU smartfren still Rp 12,000 per customer, now to $ 15,000 per customer per month.

While the data service ARPU increased from an average of Rp 60,000 per month to Rp 65,000-Rp 70,000 per customer per month.

Smartfren itself recently held a technology-based data access Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). After holding Evolution Data only (EVDO) Revision B (Rev B) phase one in Bali in January 2010, the operator which has 6.8 million customers deploy EVDO Rev B is phase two in Greater Jakarta.

Other cities that will soon follow is Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Malang.

EVDO Rev B Phase I alone is claimed to deliver data at up to 9.3 Mbps, while phase 2 could reach 14.7 Mbps with the conditions the customer is near the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and obtain an ideal signal quality.
