HP Hibahkan webOS to the Open Source Community

Despite having stopped the development of webOS, Hewlett-Packard (HP) seems to feel pity if the history of the operating system (OS) was just finished. Instead, HP will donate webOS to the open source community.

HP also confirmed his company will remain actively take part in the development of webOS and fully supports the Palm OS that formerly owned them. In addition, in the near future HP will contribute ENYO, application framework for webOS.

HP's decision to stop development of webOS is quite surprising. Whereas before, the HP looks so want webOS and willing to spend $ 1.2 billion to buy it years ago. But then, last August HP decided to stop investing in webOS and no longer develop the platform.

"webOS is the only platform designed specifically for mobile devices, connected with the cloud and can be adjusted," said HP CEO Meg Whitman, quoted from Cellular-news, on Monday (12/12/2011).
